About Us

Founded in 1975 by George Chiari(VC), Primo Chiari, Bert Houlihan, B Kelly (Capt) and Father Conway, the club was originally called Kalamunda Kangaroos Gaelic Football Team. During the early 80's the team name changed to Morley Celtic's and finally to Morley Gaels Gaelic Football Club in 1989. Morley Gaels  Ladies team was established in 1987 by Damian Beausang and later helped by Gabrielle Gilmore.

2011 saw a dramatic increase in playing members and in response Morley Gaels became the first W.A. club to enter a second men's senior team into the football league, pre-empting the establishment of the W.A. Mens Intermediate Football League & Championship in 2012.

In 2012 Morley Gaels had 170 registered members, comprising, a ladies team, a men's senior team, a men's intermediate team and several non-playing members and supporters. Morley Gaels Men's Intermediates are current Western Australian League & Championship Winners.

Morley Gaels GFC places a big emphasis on social interaction between our players and supporters. We demand full effort from players in training and matches so it is important that players get a chance to unwind, relax and get to know their new teammate's. Our social committee work hard each year to arrange outings and events, our pre-season Wine Tour being one of the favourite events each year. A long held tradition is to return to our sponsoring club, The Carlisle, for dinner, a drink and a catch up after we have played our league games

Morley Gaels currently has 5 life members; Marty Greene, Lillian O'Callaghan, Steve Smolders, Damien Beausang and Jenny Phelan.

The Committee is strong ensuring we have plenty of support behind the scenes for our players.
